New teachers orientation at AUK.

Operation HOPE Kuwait recently participated in the new teacher’s orientation conference which was held at AUK on Aug 30, 2013. The event that was organized as an orientation for the new term teachers arriving to Kuwait was a great blessing for Operation HOPE that got an opportunity to interact with the new teachers and acquaint them on how to get involved with the different community related endeavors of OH.
We thank the teachers who approached our information booth and expressed interest in our work in terms of organizing school wide toiletries collection drives, volunteering for packing initiatives at Operation HOPE and helping at our reuse boutique “ Esther’s Attic” among the several initiatives we do. All in all it was a great evening.
We thank the organizers Ilene Winokur and Lynda for inviting us to such a platform and being very cooperative and gracious.
A special vote of thanks to our volunteers Sarah, Ann, Shereen and Farah who did wonders as usual with their presence all through the evening interacting with visitors and steering through the booth logistics.

100 hand-sewn drawstring gift bags given from the Lighthouse Church of God (in Pekin, Illinois).

Recently a group of women from the Lighthouse Church of God (in Pekin, Illinois) presented OH founder, Sheryll Mairza, with 100 hand-sewn drawstring gift bags. These women, a mix of novices and veterans, armed with nothing more than fabric..., needles, thread, and a desire to bless others, met regularly to complete their labor of love, which will travel from the small Midwestern city in the USA to Kuwait, the small Middle Eastern country where Operation HOPE (OH) is located. The bags will either be sold at upcoming fundraising bazaars, or filled with toiletries for women who are residents at various shelters.

Website Technical Downtime.

Dear all,

We are not sure how many of you'll noticed ( hopefully none of you : ))  but if you did we appologise.
Our website has been facing technical difficulties off late in terms of certain malware issues. No reason for alarm incase the "M" word triggered any code red in your head :0)
Our in house IT expert is currently working closely with the concerned folks at Google and the other network fraternity to sort the matter out easy peasy at the earliest.

Until then, you may be wondering..Can you still access our webpage?  Yes. Most definetly. However incase any funny message does pop up with the "M" word, please dont let it frighten you : )

In the meantime, our email communications, blog page and telephone line continue to be fully functional should you wish to reach us.

Operation HOPE featured in July - Aug Bazaar Magazine Issue

We are truly esctatic!
We have been featured in the July - August issue of the Bazaar Magazine.
The article has beautifully profiled the broad objective of OH and how it continues to humbly progress through its different community based initiatives.

We would like to extend our deepest regard and thanks to the team at Bazaar with Ms Rebecca and her team for having researched and selected the mission of Operation HOPE to be featured in their latest issue and allowing us the magazine space to bring our cause further into the community light particularly within this holy month.

For those of you who havent got a chance to read the article, you can do so by clicking OH article in Bazaar

Personally since we are a little old fashioned, we would love for each of you to also pick your own hard copy of the magazine for the article :) They are abundantly available at any starbucks near you.

Please pick one and share it with your near and dear ones who havent heard about us.
you continue to be our ambassadors of HOPE.

Spread the word.

Ramadan Greetings.

Operation HOPE would like to wish everyone a Blessed month of Ramadan.
We hope that the month which reminds us all to inculcate an additional element of patience, respect and humility within our doings, allows us the chance to reflect on ourselves and be grateful for the haves rather than the have nots.
We hope and pray that the blessings of the holy month is showered to all communities, expatriates and citizens and mostly to this beloved country that so many of us call home, regardless of the period of time.

Joining the HOPE House during the summer time.

Dear all,
Aristotle had once coined that “Hope is a waking dream”.
Im sure we all somewhere couldn’t agree more with this notion as we live through our lives day in and day out, hoping for a better life, a better tomorrow, a better choice and a better set of endeavors to look forward to. Amidst all this, what continues to remain constant is the relentless HOPE among us.
This HOPE also continues to transcend even through the ruthless heat of the Kuwait Summer at HOPE house where volunteers continue to progress with the summer sorting every Saturday between the hours of 730 am – 9am. The results so far has been fruitful and a blessing. This is how:
Last week we were able to
·         Pack and deliver about 4-5 boxes of Children’s books to Ms. Amina kebbeh  to support her cause on the collection of children’s books for a library in Gambia
·         Pack 4-5  bags of soft toys which were dispatched towards Ms Tracy Pereira’s “Ready, Set, Love” Mission that supports  and provides Children with toys in countries like India, Afghanistan and Africa.
·         Continue to provide designated embassy shelters with everyday use clothing and footwear items for serving the needs of those in need.
Our work continues even through the summer and you help us make this possible.
We may not say this enough, but Thank you volunteers. We appreciate all of you that support us. Whether it is by coming on an early Saturday morning at the cost of sacrificing your weekend snooze time, or by silently supporting our cause in your own humble manner. Thank you.
So should you be interested in joining us this Saturday or any Saturday during or After Ramadan,  from 730 am – 9am., you know where to find us. We meet at HOPE house, Rumathiya, Block 9, st 92 house 23.
Cheers
